It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you all on behalf of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources at the Faculty of Science – University of Gharyan. This department is considered one of the vital scientific departments dedicated to the study of the environment, the preservation of natural resources, and addressing the increasing environmental challenges at both local and global levels.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources plays an important academic and research role by preparing qualified scientific personnel who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to understand environmental problems, assess the impacts of human activities, and contribute to sustainable development, in a way that serves society and preserves the rights of future generations to a safe and healthy environment.
Through its academic programs and research activities, the department strives to keep pace with modern scientific developments, encourage applied scientific research, promote environmental awareness, and strengthen cooperation with relevant authorities to serve the issues of environment and natural resources in our beloved country.
At this juncture, I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the faculty members for their scientific and educational efforts, and I commend our students for their diligence and commitment to academic achievement, encouraging them to utilize the knowledge they acquire in serving their community and nation.
We ask Almighty God to grant us all success in our endeavors, and to help us carry out our scientific and academic mission in the best possible manner.
Description
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources was established in the academic year 2000-2001, becoming one of the active departments within the faculty. The department followed the annual academic system until 2004, after which the semester system was implemented and continues to be in effect to the present time.
Vision
The department should serve as a scientific, research and advisory center in the field of studying environmental sciences and natural resources, looking forward to implementing distinguished academic outputs that fill some of the scientific and practical needs locally and at the level of the Libyan state.
Mission
The department looks forward to graduating highly capable and qualified competencies to provide specialized cadres in the field of natural resources and environmental sciences that will meet the labor market’s need for specialized expertise in this field.
Goals
Enabling the department’s graduates to obtain a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences and natural resources with high competencies in the fields of environmental sciences and natural resources, being able to:
- Contributing to the preparation of scientific competencies in various environmental sciences and renewable natural resources journals and qualifying these competencies to be able to develop these resources and exploit them in optimal ways.
- Conducting specialized scientific research and studies, relevant workshops, and implementing training and qualification programs for workers in this field.
- Developing sustainable development plans to preserve non-renewable natural resources and develop renewable ones.
- Working to solve environmental problems at the local and general levels.
- Contributing to spreading the national spirit among members of society to preserve natural environmental resources from loss and depletion.
